To register your child for Light of My Heat, please follow these steps:
- Complete the online registration form
- Complete an in-take assessment and admission interview
- Pay the registration fee and tuition for the Hifdh Head Start Program
- Successfully Complete the Hifdh Head Start Program
- Admission decisions will be made by the conclusion of the Hifdh Head Start Program
About the Program
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

Light of My Heart is an integrated full-time hifdh program for children, youth, and adults.
The Program combines Tahfeedh (memorization) with Tajweed (beautifying the recitation) and Itqaan (perfection) while at the same time developing students’ Arabic language skills and understanding of the Qur’an
School aged students are offered homeschooling support in the form of experienced tutors and information sessions for parents on how to effectively homeschool their children.
Students applying for Light of My Heart must first complete the summer Hifdh Head Start Program

✓ Daily homeschooling support in Mathematics, Language and Science from qualified tutors
HIFDH HEAD START PROGRAM
The Hifdh Head Start Program is designed to help students, parents, and teachers determine whether a student is ready to undertake hifdh full-time.
Memorizing the Qur’an full-time requires major restructuring in a child’s life, especially their schooling. We want parents and students to be absolutely confident in their choice!
- The parent and student experience the program and make an informed decision to commit to it in the Fall
- The teachers assess the student’s aptitude, interest and commitment and make a recommendation to parents on whether to proceed at this time or try again in the future.
Only after successful completion of the Hifdh Head Start Program and approval of the supervising teacher will the candidate be granted admission to Light of My Heart in September.
Hifdh Head Start Program:
July 5th – August 19th
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays | 10AM to 4PM
Success criteria:
- Punctuality and regular attendance
- Completing assigned tasks and homework on-time
- Paying attention in class
- Working to improve one’s recitation by acting on the teacher’s advice and corrections
- Overall good behaviour
Admission Criteria
The program is open to both boys and girls, age 7 years or above. In addition, the candidate must:

- Be able to read the Qur’an independently
- Show personal interest and passion for doing hifdh
- Demonstrate good behavior in interacting with staff and fellow students

September 4th 2018 to June 28th 2019
Monday – Thursday
8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Fridays
8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Educational Curriculum
- Qur’an memorization with Tajweed and Itqaan.
- Tajweed theory
- Tafsir (meaning and explanation of the Qur’an)
- Arabic language
*The language of instruction is English
HomeSchooling Support
Your child has committed to memorize the Qur’an full-time, but what about school?
Irshad Institute highly encourages parents to keep up with their child’s secular education, especially in core subjects like Language, Mathematics and Science.
To help students keep up with their grade level:
- The Institute will facilitate a group tutoring program with qualified and experienced tutors September – June inshaAllah
- The institute will also hold Homeschooling information workshops for parents
The tutoring program is outside of the core curriculum, please ask the office more details on how to register.
Activities
- Internal and external Qur’an competitions
- Two field trips during the school year
- One field trip in the summer
Fees
FEE AMOUNT PAYABLE
Registration $25 One-time fee, upon registration
Hifdh Head Start Program (July & August) $235 One time fee
September-June Tuition $250 Monthly
Tutoring Program To be Determined** Monthly
*Registration fee is waived for current students of Irshad Institute registered in other programs.
** The greater the number of students that participate in the tutoring program, the lower the cost will be per student.
