About the Program

Seeds of Faith is a year-round weekend program that delivers Islamic education to children ages 5 to 10. By engaging with the natural curiosity of our students, we aim to instill the love of Allah and His Prophet (عليه السلام). Each day begins with the morning duas as students embark on a journey of discovery.

Arabic Reading and Writing

Objective:

To teach students the correct pronunciation, spelling, and fluent reading of the Arabic language. Students that complete all levels are expected to have a clear understanding of the relationship between the spoken and written word, excellent reading and writing skills and good penmanship.

Curriculum:

The Arabic Reading and Writing curriculum comprises three levels beginning with the Arabic alphabet and culminating in independent reading and writing. To test students’ knowledge, we have a spelling test after each lesson. This ensures that students can correctly interpret letters and vowels. Students are also taught basic Arabic vocabulary and spelling rules to further strengthen their understanding. After completing the Arabic Reading and Writing curriculum, students spend a period of time reciting the Qu’ran until they have gained confidence before proceeding to the Tahfeedh program.

Tahfeedh al-Qur’an and Tafsir

Objective:

To preserve and connect with the words of Allah through the age old tradition of memorization while at the same time understanding its message.

Curriculum:

Tajweed and Itqaan are the foundations of our self-paced Tahfeedh program. Students are taught how to recite the Qur’an the way it was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (عليه السلام). Equal importance is placed on memorization and correct pronunciation. In addition with familiarizing themselves with the translation of the verses they are memorizing, students are taught the detailed tafsir of select surahs. Students in Seeds of Faith study the Tafsir of select short surahs from the 30th Juz.

Islamic Studies

Objective:

The objective of our Islamic studies program is to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of the five pillars of Islam, aqeedah, seerah of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and husn al khuluq. We also teach daily duas and selected ahadith of the Prophet (عليه السلام)

Curriculum:

The core of our Islamic studies curriculum is based on the “Weekend Learning Series” in addition to audio-visual material and supplementary books. Class activities consist of arts and crafts, problem solving, applied application, projects and demonstrations. In the formative years, we focus on introducing “Who is Allah?”, stories of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), good manners and a basic overview of the five pillars of Islam. As students grow in their understanding, more detailed material is introduced. Students are able to work collaboratively to discuss ideas, concepts and extract lessons from the Qur’an and Sunnah.
